Celebrating the Movies, Massachusetts-style!
One of Philadelphia’s most beloved traditions, the Philadelphia Flower Show, turns 187 this year. This is the world’s longest running flower show and by any measure, one of the most beautiful traditions experienced by thousands of friends and families. The show has had its share of memorable moments from the first exhibition that introduced the Poinsettia to the American gardening public to visits by dignitaries, kings, queens and a very special Princess named Grace. This year’s presentation will be no less momentous as exhibitors Celebrate the Movies and in doing so, shine a light on the beauty of gardening and design in new and imaginative ways.
Philadelphia may be in a deep freeze but local businesses are in full bloom as promotions pick up steam for this year’s Philadelphia Flower Show to be held February 28 through March 8 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center. More than 100 storefronts and lobbies are sprouting colorful interpretations of this year’s show theme. From Center City to Manayunk, Chestnut Hill to Kensington and all points in between, entrants in this friendly regional competition, called Bloom Philly, are judged in ten categories including Most Animated, Best Use of Flower Show Poster, Most Colorful, Most Creative Design, Most Movie Inspired, Most Fashionable, Most Random, Best Use of Flowers/Greenery, Crowd Favorite and Grand Champion. You can pick the crowd favorite by clicking here.
Flower Show visitors will also enjoy many special exhibits like the rare butterfly display. The “Butterfly Experience” was such a huge hit at the show last year, the PHS is bringing the experience back even bigger and better, with more butterflies than before. Last year, over 30,000 people experienced the beautiful room, courtesy of California’s Sky River Butterflies. The exhibit even won the Flower Show one of its 17 International Festival and Events Association awards last year, capturing the silver for Best Children’s Programming.
Visitors will also have the opportunity to stop at hundreds of garden-product focused booths. Be sure you hit the Walpole Outdoors Booth. Walpole Outdoors, traveling from the northern state of Massachusettes, offers the perfect balance of architectural beauty and function, all at the same time. Using quality materials like cedar, copper and cellular PVC, they are able to achieve durability that no other garden décor products can come close to.
From fencing to arbors, pergolas to plant containers, their products are a great way to add to the curb appeal of your property. At this year’s show, Walpole is introducing new products like the Aluminum Strong Mailbox, Seaside MAD Series Adirondack chairs and Kingsley Bate Sag Harbor Collection of furniture. Walpole also has new buildings from Vixen Hill as well as shade structures from Apollo Shade Structures. Also new for 2015, some of the arbors and gates that Walpole offers will come as a packaged deal. Grab a catalog while at the show or stop by and pick one up here before your head down. Walpole is also offering a show special of 20% off any purchase at the Flower Show. Any purchase made at the show, will also provide the customer with a 10% off coupon to be redeemed here at Bucks Country Gardens on additional Walpole Products. This coupon will be valid until April 8th. Some of Bucks Country Gardens’ finest will be working at the Walpole Booth on March 6, 7 and 8, so be sure to stop by and say hello!
Spring is right around the corner and there is plenty to do–so get out, hop on the train and head to the PHS 2015 Flower Show as they Celebrate the Movies in flowers! We’ll see you there!
