A Colorful New Year!
Each year, we anxiously await the announcement of Pantone’s Color of the Year. For 2018, they chose rich, refreshing, vibrant, ULTRA VIOLET! The color of the year kick starts hot hue trends for home décor, fashion, plants, and more. Color is a vital part in brand identity, product development, design, and lifestyles. It dictates what’s hot or not for manufacturers. At Bucks Country Gardens, we too, are influenced by what’s popular in the color world and we’re here to help you get inspired!
Some words from Pantone:
“Inventive and imaginative, Ultra Violet lights the way to what is yet to come. A dramatically provocative and thoughtful purple shade, PANTONE 18-3838 Ultra Violet communicates originality, ingenuity, and visionary thinking that points us toward the future.
Complex and contemplative, Ultra Violet suggests the mysteries of the cosmos, the intrigue of what lies ahead, and the discoveries beyond where we are now. The vast and limitless night sky is symbolic of what is possible and continues to inspire the desire to pursue a world beyond our own.
Enigmatic purples have also long been symbolic of counterculture, unconventionality, and artistic brilliance. Musical icons Prince, David Bowie, and Jimi Hendrix brought shades of Ultra Violet to the forefront of western pop culture as personal expressions of individuality. Nuanced and full of emotion, the depth of PANTONE 18-3838 Ultra Violet symbolizes experimentation and non-conformity, spurring individuals to imagine their unique mark on the world, and push boundaries through creative outlets.
Historically, there has been a mystical or spiritual quality attached to Ultra Violet. The color is often associated with mindfulness practices, which offer a higher ground to those seeking refuge from today’s over-stimulated world. The use of purple-toned lighting in meditation spaces and other gathering places energizes the communities that gather there and inspire connection.”
Ultra Violet Accents & Touches
Ultra Violet is out of this world. Now, it may not be your taste or possibly a little too bright for you, but it is all about accents, touches, and compliments. Everything in the room does not have to scream purple.
Tap into the Ultra Violet trend with an accent wall or accessories. If you are not ready to add bold tones to your walls, try adding it to the back of bookshelves, interior or exterior doors, or accent furniture.
Throw pillows, wall art, and silk florals with Ultra Violet can add the touch you need to make your home décor pop with this year’s color. Hints of purple can be seen in patterns and floral designs on blouses, purses and more – subtle, but still brilliant.
Using Variations of Ultra Violet
Hues– Variations of purples like lilac and jewel tones will be huge in the spring and summer. Bucks Country Gardens is always thinking ahead! We have big plans for color in our spring and summer 2018 boutique. Ultra Violet hues will be found in scarves, shoes, and more. Each hue will give off different impressions.
The color Ultra Violet has blue and red tones because that’s what purple is… blue and red mixed together! Blues and reds play well with violets. For example, you can find blue undertones in red or burgundy. Simple burgundy flowers mixed with Ultra Violet create a dramatic look.
Ultra Violet Compliments
Complimentary colors will make Ultra Violet stand out. Place flowers in a gold vase and you have a complete piece of décor. Throw a bright yellow pillow on your couch. Play with light oranges in patterns or even on your walls, so the purple pops. Your garden can be a colorful masterpiece as well. There are lots of Ultra Violet flower colors including violets (of course), succulents, dahlias, lavender, and pansies. Mix in some black-eyed-susans, marigolds, and sunflowers to compliment.
Using color is a great way to add life to your space. Need help creating the perfect trend worthy room or garden? We can help you make your dreams a reality. Contact us today! To get more inspiration… visit our “Pantone Color of the Year” board on Pinterest. You’re turning violet, Violet!
