Deck the Walls with these Fall Favorites
Published by Bucks Country Gardens in Home Decor
Autumn is my favorite time of the year. Between the leaves changing to rustic vibrant colors, the pumpkin carving, celebrating Halloween and finally Thanksgiving, it’s no wonder autumn takes my breath away!! Ahhhhh!
Autumn also spurs a lot of memories of my youth but times have surely changed since I was a kid. Being the youngest of eight children (yes, eight!), my Mom had to improvise in making costumes and seasonal decorations with materials and “props” from around the house. Twenty-seven years later, I became a mother myself (of three) and ended up doing the same thing–that is, I create, create, create! I guess it was a gift passed on to me.
One of my favorite things to do is to decorate a beautiful autumn wreath for my front door. I like to start with a grapevine wreath and design it with silk chrysanthemums, sunflowers, acorns, crabapples and stems of silk fall leaves. The varieties of silk floral stems that we carry at Bucks Country Gardens are so lifelike, they’ll keep your friends and neighbors guessing! Our selection is vast, but they are leaving (no pun intended!) rather quickly. Not crafty? No worries, we’ll custom make one to your liking just in time for the season.
We’re more than happy to help beautify or spookify your space. We’ve spruced up the front of our store this season with impressive colored glass pumpkins, hand carved jack-o-lantern gourd lights, light up haunted houses, and a variety of ceramic tea light statues of ghosts, goblins, and skeletons. Byers Choice® also makes an entrance with their Halloween witches and mummies along with the Thanksgiving Pilgrim Carolers.
If you prefer live harvest decorations, we have a beautiful assortment of pumpkins, gourds, Indian corn, straw bales and more to mix in with your other holiday dècor. While passing through the Greenhouse the other day, one thing that caught my eye was a really cool succulent garden atop a pumpkin one of the Greenhouse gals had created. I know I’ll be getting one of those for my centerpiece, or maybe even the mantel. It’s one surefire design that will last throughout the season. Perhaps I’ll even paint the pumpkin gold or silver to transition into the Christmas season. It’s a lasting design for sure!
I could actually go on and on about my love of fall decorating at this time of year, but I think I’ll just sign off and take a country ride to enjoy the ever-changing foliage. We’re so lucky to call Bucks County our home! By the way, if you come into the garden center now, everything Fall is 20% off! That includes tableware, linens, carved gourds and more! Happy Haunting and Happy Thanksgiving!
