Now Trending in the Greenhouse

Published by Bucks Country Gardens in Plants

A walk through our greenhouse on any given day can brighten even the grayest of winter days. Beautiful pops of pinks, purples, oranges and yellows surrounded by lush greens and foliage can make you think you’ve entered a tropical paradise…of course until you glance outside at the stark white snow covered ground and dingy gray skies. Ahhh! Since we can’t do much about the weather outside, I figured now’s a good time to focus on the inside. Now trending in our greenhouse are two groups of fantastic houseplants that you need to know about if you don’t already.

Now Trending Sensational Succulents

Succulents have been trending in popularity for the past several years, and they don’t seem to be disappearing anytime soon. Why? The answer is easy…they are simply amazing! Not only are they unique, contemporary, and interesting, but they are super easy to care for. If you are an avid “Pinterest-er” like me, I am sure you have seen them all over different boards. For inspiration, visit ours: (but finish reading this blog post first!) The pictures that usually catch my eye are the ones that show succulents planted in a different or unique way: such as in glass jars, with different layers of stones, soil or sand. In addition, there are so many ways to use and display them. I just love succulents used in centerpieces or even in bridal bouquets!

>Most people are familiar with succulents so they don’t really need a formal introduction. But in case you don’t know a lot or have always been curious, the best thing to know is that they store water in their thick fleshy leaves. This makes succulents an easy choice for people that like low maintenance houseplants. Another part of their appeal is the wide variety of shapes, textures, and colors that are grown. They are the wonderful plants to mix and match to create a unique combination or artistic statement. Even if you are limited on windowsill space, you can still enjoy the look of succulents by planting them in hanging terrarium glass balls above a desk or window. With so many options you are bound to find a succulent to match your style.

Now Trending Sophisticated Orchids…

The timeless beauty and elegance of orchids have made them one of the most sought-after houseplants in the greenhouse. Orchids are extremely versatile. The simple act of placing them in a decorative pot or vase can evoke a myriad of feeling…a modern New York chic, a classic understated elegance or a quiet sophistication. An orchid can be the perfect addition to any room since blooms can last for weeks, even months! Several variations of colors and sizes, each prettier than the next, can complement any décor. Here are a few ideas to incorporate the beauty of orchids into your home: Brighten up an office space with colorful orchid blooms in yellow or bright pink; or create a sophisticated centerpiece on the coffee table or entryway table. Impress your houseguests by placing a grouping of several orchids together to create a “wow” factor. Have fun placing them in every room throughout the house to enhance your style.

I truly think the best thing about both succulents and orchids can not be summed up in a few short sentences. You have to see them to believe them. Their beauty and aesthetic appeal are awe-inspiring.
