Proudly Made in the USA
While out and about on buying trips, we are always on the hunt to find the newest and most interesting products for our customers to love. And when these great finds are produced right here in America, that’s even better! This year, we were at the American Craft Retailers Show in Philadelphia with a mission to find fantastic American made products for our Gift and Garden Shops. It was very exciting to see so many talented artists and craftspeople doing what they love, making a career of it and sharing it with us!
Throughout Bucks Country Gardens, you’ll discover lots of American-made items… probably a lot more than you might think. Below is a short list of some of the newest additions of Made in the USA products lines in our Garden Center today:
A love of nature combined with excellent jewelry and lost wax casting skills equals exquisite botanical-inspired jewelry and tableware. Michael has perfected the technique of creating models from natural elements and then manipulating these “copies” into beautiful jewelry and tableware. He then uses bronze, sterling silver or gold and embellishes the jewelry with natural stones, hand formed glass and freshwater pearls. Michael has numerous licensed collections and has collaborated with the 9/11 Memorial in New York. His work can be found in museums, craft galleries and retailers throughout the world and now at Bucks Country Gardens.
Troutman Chair Company, established in 1924, had been family owned since its inception. The Brown family of Troutman, North Carolina is responsible for maintaining the quality manufacturing processes for almost three-quarters of a century. In 1999, Champ and Jean Land purchased Troutman Chair with the intent of continuing the tradition of handcrafting oak rockers, chairs, and stools in a manner established in back in 1924.
In a time when a good deal of furniture manufacturing is being done overseas, the Lands feel a sense of pride in knowing that they are seeing to the continuation of a true southern tradition; promoting rocking on the porch and manufacturing rockers the time honored quality way of old master craftsman, right here in the U.S.A. Bucks Country Gardens offers a variety of styles and finishes from Troutman Chair, so stop in and experience the best rocking chair on the market!
Stonewall Kitchen, founded by Jonathan King and Jim Stott, celebrates its 25th anniversary this year. What started out as selling a few jars of preserves at the local farmers market has grown into producing about 75,000 jars daily. The product line has grown to over 500 all-natural offerings. They are now organic certified, so be on the lookout for more and more organic items to be introduced. Over the years, Jonathan and Jim have been awarded 28 prestigious awards from the Specialty Food Association and, in 2015, they were inducted into the Specialty Food Hall of Fame. Be sure to give Stonewall Kitchen a try on your next visit to the garden center. Hint: we often offer tastings on the weekends!
Hillhouse Naturals is a family business that began over 30 years ago as a small home collection sold at local markets in western Kentucky. Today, their products are still made on the Hillhouse Naturals Farm in Kentucky. They have a team of women who do everything from pouring candles, making potpourri, and packing orders. On our recent buying trip, we met the mother/daughter team who represent Hillhouse Naturals and were impressed by their story and how hands-on they are with the business.
Whenever possible they source local and natural ingredients which helps protect the environment and maintain total control over quality. The soy candles are made from the soybeans on the owner’s son-in-law’s farm, how cool! Their environmental initiatives also include boxes manufactured using wind power, recycled paper and organic soy inks. They have a simple philosophy, “Quality products made with care”. At Bucks Country Gardens, we are happy to introduce their mosquito repellent collection. The candles in this collection are made with essential oils of geranium, marigold, eucalyptus, and mint. These scents naturally and safely repel mosquitoes.
We are proud to carry local and American-made products at Bucks Country Gardens. Not only are we supporting other local businesses, but also domestic manufacturing as well! Cheers to a safe and Happy Independence Day to everyone!
